REGARDING NANCY HARMS:
…Arne Fogel now serves as the official out-of-state booking agent for rising jazz vocalist NANCY HARMS. Born and raised in Minnesota, Harms relocated to New York City, where she made her jazz club debut in June, 2010, to a packed house in the Village’s THE BAR NEXT DOOR. She now frequently works at many of the major jazz venues in NYC, including SMALLS, ZINC, KITANO, BLUE WATER CAFE, LAMB’S CLUB, CORNELIA ST. CAFE, THE GARAGE, and performs regularly at legendary BIRDLAND, where she has performed several Sunday evening engagements throughout 2011, 2012 and 2013.
In the meantime, Nancy performs frequently as featured vocalist with trombone giant WYCLIFFE GORDON (with whom she has recently recorded), including engagements at DIZZY’S CLUB COCA-COLA. She has performed for festivals and concerts including The SORTLAND JAZZ FESTIVAL in Norway, and a series of Nancy Harms concerts and workshops in Torino, Italy in 2011, 2012 and 2013. …
Nancy is currently enjoying the success of a debut CD that has put her on 140 radio and cable outlets in dozens of markets, and top sales on the CDBaby Jazz vocal chart, “Chart-bound” on the Jazz Week chart, and named as “…the brightest new star of the Twin Cities jazz scene” in the Minneapolis-St.Paul Star-Tribune annual critic’s poll. The CD, “IN THE INDIGO” continues to receive national airplay on “THE PENTHOUSE RADIO NETWORK, PRI’s “JAZZ AFTER HOURS”, NPR, and MUSIC CHOICE via satellite, cable & internet.
Nancy has recently concluded production on her second solo CD in NYC, with Arne Fogel producing. Expect a July 2013 release on the brand-new GAZELLE RECORDS label .
Nancy has become a vital part of two unique musical trios based in NYC: “DOUBLE BASS DOUBLE VOICE” features the voices of Nancy and EMILY BRADEN, accompanied by STEVE WHIPPLE on bass. Nancy also is the vocalist with THE JEREMY SISKIND TRIO, featuring Siskind (piano) and LUCAS PINO (reeds). The trio has recently released the critically acclaimed CD “FINGER-SONGWRITER”, and has recently been touring throughout the USA.
Nancy can be heard as one of the singers on the public radio series “CERTAIN STANDARDS”, now available for airing through PRX Radio.
